Featured Wedding: Laura and Jason 5/25/13

Laura and Jason’s wedding is another perfect example of how beautiful a mansion wedding can be regardless of the weather.  The mansion was in full spring bloom, bursting with fresh greens and the brilliance of our rhododendrons.

It was a rainy springtime afternoon but a little drizzle didn’t dampen the spirits or the beauty of Laura and Jason’s big day.  Laura had a beautiful color palate of blush, peach and white flowers beautifully arranged by Blush Floral Design that brightened every corner of the mansion.  The tables and mantels were alighted with the soft glow of votive candles that added that extra touch of warm elegance.

And look at this stunning yet simple cake!
Along with the flowers, the designs and details of the day added to the beauty of the mansion.

Coastal Gourmet designed a scrumptious menu for guests to enjoy.
Laura and Jason got ready at the Sheraton in Rocky Hill, CT

and arrived at the mansion for their “first look” which was done on the portico because of the rain.

The bridal party gathered for some formal shots in front of the mansion

and then it was time for the ceremony!  Sperry Tents had been set up on the lawn just off the patio which is where the ceremony was held.

Following the ceremony, everyone was ready to dine and dance the night away!
Congratulations to Jason and Laura!  We hope your marriage brings you both years of happiness!

Featured Wedding – Kelly and Robert 5/18/13

We love hosting spring weddings here!  The mansion comes to life with budding greens and pink magnolias.  It is magical.  You know what else was magical?  Kelly and Robert’s wedding.  They were married here on a Saturday in May and Kelly thoughtfully selected colors that reflected the beauty of springtime.  We loved her attention to detail; from the bridesmaid dresses that matched the pink magnolias to the birdcage envelope holder.  David Alan catering planned a delicious dinner, Kim’s Cottage Confections created a stunning cake and It’s so Ranonculus provided beautiful flower arrangements that complemented the colors of the season.

While the Vista was being set up for the ceremony, Kelly was able to watch from above on the balcony.
What a beautiful bride she was!
But before Kelly was to walk down the aisle, she and her groom did a “first look” from the staircase leading into the foyer.
Followed by couple and bridal party photos
Finally, it was time to walk down the aisle.
And then eat, drink and be merry!
Congratulations to Kelly and Robert!  It was a pleasure hosting your wedding at the mansion and we wish you all the best in the years to come.

Featured Wedding – William and Kate 5/5/13

On Sunday, May 5th, for the first time of the season the sun warmed the air and filled the mansion and its grounds with warm rays of light.  As we opened the mansion and started setting up for Will and Kate’s wedding we kept commenting on how perfect the weather was.  And it really was perfect, setting the stage for one of the most quintessential spring weddings we’ve hosted.

William and Kate are from Maryland so Kate’s mother orchestrated a lot of the planning.  With the help of Marissa from Jordan’s Catering and our staff, Kate was able to have the wedding of her dreams all while living in another state!  Kate’s colors were perfectly matched to a springtime palate with an array of seasonal flowers.  She even had a grass tray to hold the place cards!  Kate gave credit to some of her inspiration from Pinterest, and we think they were all great ideas.

The ceremony was set up on the vista, ready for guests to watch Will and Kate say “I Do”
They decided to have their “first look” on the carriage drive.

Then they were able to take full advantage of the mansions grounds for couple and bridal party pictures

Finally, it was time to walk down the isle to the music of a four string quartet.

The rest of the party went off beautifully with friends and family dining then dancing the day away.
Congratulations to Will and Kate and thank you for allowing us the privilege of hosting your wedding!

Featured Wedding – Shardei and Jeromy 5/11/13

From the moment we met Shardei and Jeromy, we knew this wedding would be something special.  They first toured the mansion at our 2012 bridal show and in the following month, booked their wedding.  When we found out Jeromy was a professional football player, our executive director challenged him to an arm wrestling match.  Good thing there was no money bet on the outcome!

Shardei and the talented team from Fancy Pants Event Planning had put together a beautiful, elaborate affair with stunning arrangements by Datura, A Modern Garden including a gorgeous arch that Shardei and Jeromy would stand under as they said their vows.  A Thyme to Cook prepared a delicious menu and Power Posse Productions designed a custom lighting display to add that special touch to the dance floor.

Shardei had expressed concern about the weather, (as we all know May in Connecticut can be unpredictable) so she and her wedding planner put together an alternate plan in case of rain.  Originally, the plan was to have the ceremony outside on the vista with cocktails on the patio and dancing in the West Ballroom.  Fortunately, when the rain came everyone was prepared.  The ceremony was moved into the Loggia, cocktails in the West Ballroom and the rest of the wedding fell into place.

The beautiful arch designed by Datura, A Modern Garden

Shardei took it all in stride and on the day of her wedding; she was cool, calm, collected, and looking absolutely gorgeous!

She and her bridal party took advantage of a brief pause in the rainy weather and headed outside for a few pictures

And luckily, the rain held off long enough for Shardei and Jeromy’s “first look” photos

When the rain started to fall again, they moved back inside and look at these beautiful pictures captured on the balcony!

What we love most about the Wadsworth Mansion is that regardless of the weather, the mansion has countless locations for stunning pictures.  So rain or shine, every bride and groom has a beautiful, magical venue to capture their most memorable day.
Congratulations to Shardei and Jeromy!  We wish you both so much joy and happiness in the years to come!

Featured Wedding – Jennifer and Daniel 5/4/13

It was a beautiful May day when Jenn and Dan exchanged vows.  The sun warmed the ground as a gentle cool breeze whispered across the vista.  Excited about the mansions beautiful surroundings and the perfect spring day, it was decided to have the dancing take place outside.  Sound Image Band set up their instruments, the Connecticut Wedding Group set up the decorations (and outside bar) and Koko Floral Design arranged beautiful displays of white and blush pink flowers.

The stage was set, and everyone was waiting for the bride and groom to arrive.
Jenn and Dan exchanged their “I Do’s” at a beautiful church ceremony in Stamford, CT

Then they arrived at the mansion for some enchanting newlywed photos.

And a few fantastic photos with their entire wedding party

The guests arrived on shuttle buses provided by Premiere Limousine ready to watch the couple in their first dance
Followed by dinner, then they all danced the night away!

With a rockin’ band!
Congratulations to Jennifer and Daniel Simpson!  We wish you all the best in your new role as husband and wife!

A spectacular wedding

Congratulations to Rae and Geir who were married at the Mansion on May 26!

Erica Powell of Ambiance Luxe Weddings created this beautiful wedding.  The details were amazing.  The flowers and the tablescapes were breathtaking.  Whoever coined the phrase, “The devil is in the details”, never saw a wedding like this.  At the Mansion we say, “The beauty is in the details!”  Rae and Geir’s guests were treated to a memorable evening and it began with planning and creativity.

This is one of the centerpieces on the head table.  It is full of roses and peonies!  All the more reason to get married in May and June.
The place cards
The table numbers
A place setting.  Notice the gold rims on the charger and dinner plate.
The table is set with a water glass, wine glass, and champagne flute.
They are tall and add dimension to the table.

Floating candles and votives create soft light at the table.
This is the head table.  There are peonies, gardenias, roses, and stock in the centerpieces.

This enticing display is for the  wedding cake and sweets.
Notice the rosette tablecloth and garland.
There is no shortage of pink candy here.
Is this too pretty to eat?

Now that we are ready…

Rae and her father arrived by horse drawn carriage driven by Allegra Farms.
The ceremony was supposed to be outside on the lawn, but a sudden thunderstorm changed everyone’s plans.

After hoping that the rain would subside, and mother nature not cooperating, Rae and Geir surrounded by 200 guests exchanged their vows in the Gallery.

Just after the ceremony, the rains ceased and Rae and Geir were able to head outside for pictures.  A mist hung from the trees and lifted off the payment.  Dreamier pictures you will not find anywhere.

After pictures the bridal party and the bride and groom were introduced under the tented patio.

They danced their first dance,

and were toasted by their family and friends.

After dinner Rae changed into a sari.

for more champagne and toasts,

and the cake cutting,

and the boquet toss,

and more dancing

 and more merriment,

and even more merriment,

until they rode off into the moonlight.

                                                                                                 and lived happily ever after.
