Jen and Ryan first toured the Mansion during our 2012 Open Air Market (this year scheduled for August 25!) with their sweet Great Dane puppy. We are a dog-friendly establishment so we were happy to have them, and their pup, take a look around. Obviously they loved it because the following month were back to book their wedding! Fast forward about 9 months, the wedding day arrived. It was a beautiful June day. The mansion was ripe with a lush green landscape and the sun was shining. Grand Gourmet prepared a scrumptious feast, Jen’s mother made the cakes (yes, cakes), and Cindy Casuyon created beautiful floral arrangements. Sometimes our staff likes to jump in and lend a helping hand, and our Event Manager Anne was happy to do that to bring Jen’s vision to life. It all came out beautifully, don’t you think?
Jen arrived early to get dressed upstairs in our bridal suite

The ceremony was held on the patio overlooking the vista
As it is with photography, and photographers, there are times we find ourselves seeing the mansion in a whole different light. Dan, from Some Guy Photography, and Kevin 11 took some pretty fantastic and unique images with the couple and wedding party out on the vista.
Pictures were followed by the first dance, which took place on the patio.
After dinner, more dancing and merriment to celebrate Jen and Ryan!
And finally, we love this picture of Jen and Ryan dancing in the Loggia.
Congratulations you two! Thank you for choosing the mansion to host your wedding. It was a pleasure having you here. We wish you a lifetime of happiness!
On Sunday, May 5th, for the first time of the season the sun warmed the air and filled the mansion and its grounds with warm rays of light. As we opened the mansion and started setting up for Will and Kate’s wedding we kept commenting on how perfect the weather was. And it really was perfect, setting the stage for one of the most quintessential spring weddings we’ve hosted.
William and Kate are from Maryland so Kate’s mother orchestrated a lot of the planning. With the help of Marissa from Jordan’s Catering and our staff, Kate was able to have the wedding of her dreams all while living in another state! Kate’s colors were perfectly matched to a springtime palate with an array of seasonal flowers. She even had a grass tray to hold the place cards! Kate gave credit to some of her inspiration from Pinterest, and we think they were all great ideas.
The ceremony was set up on the vista, ready for guests to watch Will and Kate say “I Do”
They decided to have their “first look” on the carriage drive.
Then they were able to take full advantage of the mansions grounds for couple and bridal party pictures
Finally, it was time to walk down the isle to the music of a four string quartet.
The rest of the party went off beautifully with friends and family dining then dancing the day away.
Congratulations to Will and Kate and thank you for allowing us the privilege of hosting your wedding!
The Friends of Long Hill Estate and the Long Hill Estate Authority will host their annual Daffodil Day on Sunday, April 22, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Wadsworth Mansion at Long Hill Estate, 421 Wadsworth Street, Middletown. This family event will be held rain or shine and there is no charge for admission.
A plethora of daffodils will still be in bloom to greet visitors as they follow the entrance drive leading to the Beaux Art style mansion for this annual celebration of spring. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the meadows planted by volunteers over the last decade. Throughout the afternoon there will be numerous activities for visitors wishing to celebrate spring.
Ongoing throughout the afternoon, docents from the Friends of Long Hill Estate will lead guided tours of the Mansion providing a narrative that details the history of the Estate. Furniture donated by the Wadsworth Family will be on display in the History Room.
Join Lucy Meigs of Everyone Outside between 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the pool to the east of the Mansion. Come see all the amazing creatures (tadpoles, salamander & insect larvae) that live in a vernal pool in the spring (viewing scopes provided). Learn what letterboxing is all about (think scavenger hunt) and try your hand at finding some with beautifully hand carved stamps. Sponsored by Everyone Outside and the Rockfall Foundation.
Between 1:30 and 3:00, thanks to ArtFarm, guests will enjoy roving musician Michael Pestel who will be playing the flute, penny whistle, and bird whistles, dressed in medieval garb. He will be accompanied by talented juggler Xaq Zukas.
